Holly and Ivy Christmas paperchains

For this month's free botanical colouring in sheet that I share with my newsletter readers, I thought we'd go for something festive. It's a bit more crafty than the usual botanical colouring in sheets and so I thought I'd share it here, as I did with last year's.

I have made a template which you can download here and print at home - on plain white printer paper, or maybe green if you have it.

You then cut the paper in half vertically, so you have two long thin pieces. I wasn't sure what the best way to explain this was so I made a video of me making the paperchains which will hopefully help!

It's quite hard to predict exactly where each shape will be when you have done your cutting and for that reason it is tricky to colour in before you cut. However, it is a bit fiddly to colour in when it is cut out as the pieces are quite small!

So, you can leave it plain, or paint the paper before you cut, or put some newspaper down and paint / colour so it doesn't matter if you go over the edges.

However you do it, I hope you enjoy it! I'd love to see if you have a go - or if you go off piste and create a brand new design! You can share your creations with me via social media - I'm @alicedrawstheline on Instagram and Facebook.

Oh, and if you fancied making these paper orange slice baubles that I shared last year, you can find the blog post for those here.
