Sketch Across the World 2021- the Elan Valley part1
I have just discovered this blog post saved, unpublished from last year's (2021) Sketch Across the World adventure with Kath - @TheWalkingSketchbook.
We went to the Elan Valley for a day of sketching. First up onto the mountain road which is where these are from.
I enjoyed experimenting with brown paper and mixed media here. Above we have the initial pencil lines for the sketch.
I took a range of drawing materials with me - including ink and a homemade feather quill or two. Handily they fit nicely in this biscuit tin!
I then added ink and watercolour
It was fun to work on the brown paper - adding coloured pencils and white ink too.
This is a close up of part of the picture. I really enjoy these fast, lively lines and the mix of materials used.
We then changed location and moved down to the river which I'll pop in another post.
