Herefordshire Art Week Raffle Painting
I participated in Herefordshire Art Week (H.Art) this year, at my studio for the first time.
Over the event I slowly worked on a painting on my drawing board. Visitors and followers online could buy raffle tickets for the chance to win an A3 giclée print of the finished piece.
H.Art is now over and the painting is complete. The raffle is closed and the painting finished!
I’m about to contact the winner and all those that entered but wanted to put an image of the finished piece somewhere that it could be viewed - and so here it is! I’ve titled it ‘Summer Nostagia’
Tomorrow I’m going to take it to be scanned and from then I can order a limited edition of giclée prints which will be available -here- in my website shop - or search for ‘Summer Nostalgia’.
A giclée print is a very high quality archival print that looks as close to the original as possible, and I’m going to have it printed on lovely thick paper. I’m going to experiment with hand finishing one - so that it would be possible to have a unique version of it - with an extra daisy, or geranium for example.
Here are a few images taken during the week -
I was able to have some real flowers to work from that I’d picked from my garden before going to the studio - amazingly they’d made a comeback after the drought in the summer.
The next day I took some Sweet Williams that were enjoying a second flush, and some verbena. For the rest of the image, I worked from my sketchbook pages and many many photographs I’ve been taking this summer.
You can see my A3 sketchbook on the right hand side of the painting in this photo! I have loved working in this book this summer - working across the join to draw species to scale.
