Preserving Katie's wedding bouquet
I had thought about drawing wedding flowers for years. But sat on the idea, uncertain whether it was an idea that people would want.
And then, in 2021 I saw this photo of Katie showing her wilted wedding bouquet, which she had taken on honeymoon with them and it galvanised me into action!
This photograph spurred me into action and I contacted Katie and asked if she would be interested in an illustration of her bouquet in it's former beauty. She said yes and I was thrilled to draw her beautiful blooms.
This is the image I worked from. The wedding flowers were by Mill Pond Flower Farm - who do stunning wedding flowers as well as seasonal bunches and bouquets, monthly subscriptions and cut your own flowers days - makes me wish I lived closer!
Here is the finished bouquet - drawn in ink and coloured with watercolour, on heavy A3 watercolour paper.
This is a little close up of part of the piece.
I made a little video as I painting these blooms which you can watch on my Instagram by clicking here.
