Wayzgoose
Next Saturday, 11th April I’m attending the Print Fair, or Wayzgoose at Hay Castle.
I love the word Wayzgoose and the fact that Way rhymes with Hay set me off on a nostalgic memory of watching Michael Rosen performing his poems ‘Everybody and Shampoo’ which I’d seen on a video while at primary school.
The joy of language and playing with words in this piece has stayed lodged in my mind for the 35 years or so since I first heard it.
This risograph print / 4 prints /zine has been made for the print fair as a result of my playing with the words and the character of a goose that likes words as much as I do.
These can either be viewed as 4 A5 prints, or folded into a zine and read in the order presented here.
First up, we have Wayzgoose. This introduces Goose - who you’ll notice is removing the W …and has a letter H under its wing.

Next up we question what Goose is up to - the W is thrown to the floor and the H is now in Goose’s beak…

The third image shows us what Goose is up to, changing the W for the H to celebrate the Wayzgoose in Hay-on-Wye and renaming it Hayzgoose. Goose is proud with this work and has now donned a crown as well as holding ‘Goose’s guide to Hay-on-Wye’ under it’s wing.

Lastly we see Goose on the river Wye, in the Wye Goose image

Here are all 4 together

And finally, the video of the prints viewed as a zine. I’ll have both formats available at the Print Fair.
