This calendar is part of the body of work that I’ve been working on called ‘Moderate or Good- a celebration of the words and phrases featured in the Shipping Forecast’
I have used a range of approaches to create the artwork featured here- painting, hand lettering in a variety of ways, printmaking, collage and digital- it’s been really enjoyable.
I often like to combine art and education and so there are bits of information here that you might enjoy-all related to the Shipping Forecast-information on wave heights, the sea areas, inshore waters and coastal stations.
One of my favourite things about the forecast however is to remove any reference to wind direction and often elements relating to weather and then to use the words and passes to create an alternative forecast-one that might be about your day, job, date, parenting, a party- anything! And some of these also feature here.
In addition to the calendar I also have tea towels ands greeting cards relating to The Shipping Forecast as well as original artwork and prints.
The calendar is square when closed and measures 210mm x 210 mm. It has one hole to hang it vertically by. It is professionally printed on uncoated recycled card. There is a little bit of information about Alice Draws the line inside the front cover. It is posted in a card backed envelope. The dates are written in black and in a made from Alice’s handwriting.
It is a staple bound calendar.
