A word from Alice - studio stories from Alice Draws the Line

  • Dandelions

Dandelions have really caught my eye this year. I have found I have drawn them a lot recently.
Here are some that I drew using procreate on the iPad (something I'm still getting used to).
From here, and something I was reading about Courage, this character appeared! Dandy, the Lion.
  • Signs of Spring

There have been so many lovely sightings on my walks near the studio recently. I often share these on my Instagram stories but I enjoy them so much...
  • Springtime Sycamore

I stood in the lane and grinned last week. I had spotted my first sycamore leaf of the year. In the hedgerow was a great display of sycamore buds through to opened new leaves and flowers. Here are some photographs of some of the stages. Although it was sunny which was encouraging the leaves to open,
  • Hedgerow appreciation

I recently found some of my very old sketchbooks- some from when I finished my A'levels and my year at Hereford Art College doing my Art Foundation course.

This picture really made me smile, as it is nearly twenty years old now (not sure how that happened!) and yet it is so similar to the work that I am doing right now.

  • Making Sloe Gin...

Those of you that follow me on Instagram will no doubt be aware that I love to gaze at hedgerows. I'm forever looking at what is growing / changing colour/ appearing / disappearing. I love to photograph what catches my eye and often share these via Instagram stories. I feel like I have been on 'Sloe watch' for weeks.

I'm not a big drinker (understatement of the year), but I do like some sloe gin, often as a long drink with ginger ale in the winter. I made some and photographed the stages and then did nothing with it and today it became a blog post.
